Netflix announced that Charlize Theron’s new action movie The Old Guard has set a new record and is on course to set another one.
The movie arrived on the streaming platform on the 10th of July and is already among the top 10 most Popular movies ever on the platform.
The streaming service tweeted that the movie is expected to reach 72 million households in the first 4 weeks of release and while the number of households it had reached at the moment was not mentioned, they did say it was “breaking records”.

The Director Gina Prince-Bythewood said she was “gobsmacked”
by the news and must have been more elated to find out that she was the first
black female director to make the top 10 most popular films list.
Starring other actors like Kiki Layne, Chiwetel Ejiofor The
Old Guard is about a group of centuries old mercenaries with an unknown source
of immortality who have the ability to heal themselves. Their secrecy is being
threatened and they must fight to not only protect their lives and identity but
that of a newly discovered immortal.
