For obvious reasons all Theatres around the world have been shut down and movies equally postponed. Originally, blockbusters like Black Widow, No Time To Die, Wonder Woman 1984 and Mulan would’ve already raked in billions of dollars and people like me who write reviews would actually have had something to write about but with the pandemic everyone has been restricted to streaming alone. While it is arguable that Cinema or Streaming both are movies no less, one can’t deny that there’s a special feeling when you see a movie at the cinema. If it’s a good movie you tend to love it but when it’s a bad it is usually the last time you ever see it.
While most of the first half of 2020 saw very little
activity at the Box Office, the second promises plenty. Two major reasons are:
BACK-TO-BACK BLOCKBUSTER FIESTA
James Bond’s new installment “No Time To Die” and Marvel’s
Black Widow movie are going to be released in a space of less than three weeks.
Also Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy and star studded movies Dune and Coming 2 America
are going to be released less than two weeks apart, as a matter of fact the
latter two are going to be released on the same day. So with that we’re
expecting nonstop blockbuster releases because this companies and franchises
already have a schedule mapped out with money already spent on marketing and
production on certain periods they feel will be able to make them the most
money.
MORE TIME FOR PRODUCTION
No I think this one speaks for itself, while it might be an overlooked factor producer, directors and visual effects artist have all the time in the world to make movies to the best of their abilities. No one wants to go to the movies after such a long time and see a flop and with this stories can be edited and reshoots can be done. If a movie doesn’t deliver after so much time well it’s safe to say it was never going to before the lockdown.
So the following listed below are the major theatrical releases
for the rest of the year. The list will be edited if any new details are discovered or if any omission was made.
The ones I feel you should look out for are indicated with (←) while those that I’m certain are
going to be big hits are indicated with (←←)
