DOCTOR STRANGE AND JAMIE FOX'S ELECTRO SET TO JOIN SPIDERMAN 3 CAST

These are crucial times for the movie industry as cinema’s have once again been shut down all around The US but more crucial for Marvel Studios is the state of their beloved Cinematic Universe. It has been over a year since Avengers: Endgame was released, shaking the globe to become the highest grossing movie of all time. A couple of months after that in July of the same year Spider-Man: Far From Home was released and like a lot of recent Marvel movies it was a success and crossed the 1 billion dollar mark, but since then a lot has happened. We were supposed to have gotten Black Widow months ago and Eternals this month but I don’t need to tell you why we won’t get to see any of them.

It’s no secret that WandaVision and Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness are linked with Marvel Head Kevin Feige announcing a long time ago that Scarlett Witch will play a major role in Doctor Strange 2. But reports recent reports suggest that before that the Sorcerer Supreme himself will be appearing in Spider-Man 3 presently scheduled for 2021. In Far From Home we saw Mysterio lie about being from another universe but while he might have lied Kevin Feige did confirm that there was indeed a Multiverse, something WandaVision trailers seem like the movie is very much exploring and with Jamie Foxx confirming via Instagram that he’s returning to play Electro from the Andrew Garfield Amazing Spider-Man 1&2 and JK Simmons’ character J Jonah Jameson who is The Daily Bugle Newspaper chief from the Tobey Maguire early 2000’s Spider-Man trilogy also plays the same character as he’s the person who exposes Peter parker as Spiderman in  Far From Home but now The Daily Bugle seems to be more of a channel and blog. Will we be exploring the Spiderverse before Doctor Strange tries to resolve the chaos in his sequel titled Doctor Strange And The Multiverse of Madness?

Rumours are that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield might also return to play alternate versions of Spider-Man but those are just rumours for now. But with Miles Morales already confirmed to be in the MCU in that scene in Homecoming where his Uncle Aaron played by Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) tells Spider-Man “I don’t want those weapons in this neghbourhood I got a nephew who live here” the Spiderverse seems to be taking shape. We already know Sony loves the Miles Morales character from 2018’s amazing animation Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse and their upcoming PlayStation 5 video game “Spiderman: Miles Morales” so we know there’s a real possibility we’ll be seeing the character in the MCU very soon.

Coincidentally, Sam Raimi the director of the Tobey Maguire era trilogy earlier this year replaced Scott Derickson as the producer of the Doctor Strange sequel and with his help Marvel might be able to strengthen the webs that are connecting all these movies. Like you don’t use characters from past movies play exactly play the same roles in new movies years later if you’re not planning to have a connection between said movies. Whatever the case may be though and whatever tricks Marvel might have up their sleeves one thing seems more certain daily and that is WandaVision, Spiderman 3 as well as Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness seem to be interpolated forming a trio of movies carrying the most stakes in phase four.

Spider-Verse poster edit.

Look, Marvel have played safe for long enough while movies like Black Widow will be loved and cherished by the fans movies like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame have shown that the higher the stakes the more profitable these movies are.
